2010.020 New(old) Digs

We’ve found something on the floor. It turned out to be a carpet!

It’s been a struggle, but at last I’ve reclaimed some space in the sewing room to use as my dedicated permanent office space. Permanent for now, at least. The various jobs I take on to supplement income and to stave off atrophy have taken over several rooms that are supposed to be used for other purposes… like cooking, eating, and hanging out with friends or the tv. So, it was time to take action, and I took that action upstairs in the room that has never been used as a spare bedroom.

We have a sewing thing going on, which will no doubt become obvious in future posts. It’s not a minor thing. We have many, many yards of fabric… cottons, muslins, linens, velvets, corduroys, woolens, and miles of silks. And others of unknown pedigree. Then there are the two dress forms. And, well, let’s just leave it at ’several’ sewing machines. And of course bins full of buttons, thread, floss, needles, ribbons, and the list goes on… and on… and on…

Well, I needed to get some work done and managed to carve an area out of the piles of fabric and notions. I am now happily ensconced in this comfortable space, among my fabric friends and foes (don’t even talk to me about the ‘all-way stretch velvet’ from hell!). There is still a lot of refining to do, but it’s workable. And I’m working. So all is well!
