2010.009 Contra Dance

There was a great turn out for this dance! This happened to be my favourite combination of caller and band… Bill Fischer and The Wild Notes. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten out to a contra dance, so I just couldn’t miss this one. Fortunately, my teenage kids love contra dance, and so do their friends, so we can usually rustle up a group to go together. This time there was a contra jam before the dance, which we also attended. I haven’t joined in on that yet, but hope to soon. But a friend who was with us brought his flute and played along. (I envy his sight...

2010.008 More snow

It just keeps coming down! This time, it added up to just a couple of inches. The sun came out this afternoon, so there is very little accumulating, thankfully! Purchase prints, mugs, t-shirts, and more,...

2010.007 Periwinkle snow

I made it home today just in time to go for a walk before it was completely dark. The fading light combined with flash made for this nighttime shot of my dog looking very pleased. I like the look of the tan/black dog on the periwinkle blue snow. I just wish he’d shed more of that fur outdoors! Purchase prints, mugs, t-shirts, and more,...

2010.006 cDogs

One of my crazy ideas that seems to be taking hold… cDogs! Dog tag shaped for id tags, keychains, or necklaces. They’re very light weight (they weigh no more than the store tags I have on the same ring) and durable, and I’ll make them for you from my photos or yours. Colourful, personal cDogs, from cShoresal! 3 for $5, or $2 each. Soon, I’ll be testing various top coatings for these and a few other photo jewelry items that I am working on, for a glass-like appearance (though they’re fine without… just experimenting). I’m very interested in feedback...

2010.005 Fife rack

You might think I am beginning to collect fifes, after looking at this photo. But you’d be wrong. See, the fifes… they are collecting me. Word has gone out. They see me coming. They whisper my name, some sweetly, some gruff. Makes no difference. Once they find me, it’s all over but the tune. Same goes for the turtles, but those are a topic for another day. Purchase prints, mugs, t-shirts, and more,...

2010.004 Tea time!

Mmm… tea kettle is whistling! This kettle does its job perfectly well. It heats quickly, is well balanced for easy and safe pouring, and has a nice loud whistle with reasonably good tone that I hear from anywhere around the house. Is it my father’s voice in my head, pointing out the beauty of form that follows function? I often think of Dad when I use this kettle. Today had me back to work after a break. Good work with great people. Followed by a reviving nap, then ensemble practise with my fellow musicians. Shortly after this photo was taken, a fragrant mug of lavender &...

2010.003 Kindle

Consider my geek-toy of the holiday season, a Kindle2, with two carefully chosen cases. The one you see it wearing here is a neoprene wetsuit with a clear cover, for safe use outdoors and in kitchens. Since I can (and have!) used recipes on this small marvel, I’m really liking that wetsuit! The other case is for everyday wear. Something leather that feels just right in my hand, with enough texture to keep it from slip-sliding away. Amazon would love to sell me books. So simple to buy. So quick to appear magically through the wonders of ‘Whispernet’, on the screen in my hands...

2010.002 Hudson River

New Year’s Day was just right for a short walk to the river. The Hudson River is a magnificent beauty, and tidal even the +/-80 miles north of it’s busy terminus (mile 0 is officially at Battery Park, in lower Manhattan). A few days in this beautiful place, in the accepting and warm companionship of good friends from college years, is soothing and restorative. Be sure to click the image above, for the full panoramic format view! Purchase prints, mugs, t-shirts, and more,...
