Neff Ancestors

Who is in the photo?

My grandmother and her siblings.

What is your relationship to them?

My grandmother and my great-aunts and uncles.

What is the location and setting?

Bucyrus, Ohio. I believe it was a formal family portrait of the children.

When was the photo taken?

Around the turn of the century.

What makes this image important and interesting, and is there a story you would like to share?

Our family has a wonderful oral family history tradition. I grew up hearing about all of these people, and I knew my grandmother and two of her younger siblings. Our family has a reunion every other year that includes the descendants of the people in this photograph.

Except for one sibling who died in her early teens, all of the others in this photograph graduated college. My grandmother graduated in the class of 1912 from the College of Wooster in Ohio, exactly 70 years before I graduated from the same school. Several other siblings and descendants attended the same school, including my mother and my brother.

Neff Magnets

We here at cShoresal would like to point out how great it is when the reverse side has notes about the image. Sometimes they are in the original hand of the image’s creator, other times they are the careful scribed notes from a conversation. Whatever their source, they’re almost always an important part of the story. When you scan your old family photos, scan the backs, too! Check out our scanning tips here.

Our Neff decendant customer used this image for a bulk order of 2″ x 3″ magnets to bring to the family reunion. What a great idea! You won’t find magnets for sale on our website, but if you have something special like this in mind, let’s talk! We love to find solutions.

I, too, was at the recent Neff Family reunion and a recipient of this photo on a magnet. Thanks so much everyone.
